Another MMO attempted - Runescape is lifestyle

I need to agree regardless of the massive downvotes. I have dragged into cheap OSRS Gold Final Fantasy XIV together with my friends and I really feel trapped because the housing market so is bank space and is truly bad. Because I can not hold my things for crafting together with the measly 2, I'm paying extra for retainers they supply. And I have to keep my sub active or that I lose my home and it is unbelievably difficult to get one to start with. There's limit spaced so people have to fight them over. I was incredibly lucky to be in the right place at the right moment. Last month I finished the story and I'm sitting here like. What's there for me? No matter value in any way.

All that's left for me to do is level other combat classes, grind eden raids every week to get gear that is only great to make eden raids simpler, or do Ultimate raids, which merely exist to make you endure and receive a name for bragging rights (It requires some group WEEKS of effort to defeat ultimate encounters). While grinding for equipment sounds great, I'm not permitted to sell gear obtained from raids and dungeons. From performing for me to gain so there's literally nothing of value. Money in general is barely worthwhile considering there's only 3 realistic applications for it: Being too lazy to craft, needing to overmeld your equipment (think augments in RS, but it merely increases raw stats), or home.

Melding is frustrating because it is already pricey as hell to find the Materiea but you can fail the meld and ruin it. The prospect of failure is high so that I don't feel like it is worth me trying to experiment with different stat loadouts -- particularly because I could do end game material WITHOUT overmelding. RuneScape's economy and awareness of progression is so much better in every single way. It saddens me that it still has that notoriety of being"babies MMO" since I can never get people to really give it a good shot and see why non-linearity is this a good way to tackle the MMO formulation. You hit walls much more easy, when you are made to advance in a direct line and it gets boring.

There is a lot of thing RS does better compared to other MMOs. The majority of them are leaning towards linear progression to draw in a casual crowd, which is good for money, but boring. RS is the only MMO I am aware of that has gear. You do not throw away equipment all the time such as"oh, this ring has +2 over this old ring." You have special attacks, place bonuses, items that produce your abilities more powerful, etc.. I have yet to play another MMO using a gear system to play with as RuneScape. It seems just like a genuine RPG experience in this manner. Ironman makes it interesting.

Markets in MMOs are fucking unhappy since you can see other people's prices. Until the item is near worthless so people simply undercut each other constantly. And of course RS' market does not get manipuated, but it makes trades fast and easy because you don't need to navigate you tell Runescape what you are willing to pay/sell for. The guide price makes it easy to have an notion of how much something is worth without even guessing on it and accidentally underselling yourself.People that are rich, what can you do if runescaping?

Not needing cash kind of defeats the purpose of a lot of content because stuff is centered around moneymaking, and the remainder is focused on acquiring xp, but if you have cash, you can purchase a good deal of skills. Is that content interesting enough to make you keep doing it anyways if you didn't require cash? What should you do with your time? I am not super super rich but I have a money making method, so I am pretty set for money. Trying to work my way around 1 minute Vindicta kills and possibly if I am feeling bold I will push enrage at Arraxor or even try to solo Nex (necessarily failing during the Blood Period, getting discouraged and not going back.)
